On behalf of the
OCPSA Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the 2011-12 Provincial
Boccia Squad.
The provincial
squad is a pool of athletes of which teams will be selected. A pool concept allows for additional athletes
to be named to the squad in order to assist with development, facilitate
training for more athletes, and provides a larger pool of athletes to draw from
when selecting teams for specific events in case of loss of athletes to the
national team, injury, or other commitments.
The Provincial Boccia
Head Coach, with support from the provincial coaching staff, will make
recommendations to the Sport Technical Committee for athlete selection from the
squad to participate on specific teams. Team size and composition will
depend on budget, the caliber of event, athlete commitment level and
preparedness, athlete selection to the national team for that event, etc.
Being named to the squad does not guarantee athletes a position on
provincial teams; these positions must still be earned. The 2011-2012 Ontario
Boccia Squad consists of the following athletes (listed in alphabetical order, per
category):
The Ontario Cerebral Palsy
Sports Association (OCPSA) would like to thank and congratulate the talented
athletes who have been nominated (below is a draft list of athletes) for Ontario Cards under the 2011-2012 Quest for Gold Ontario Athlete
Assistance Program (OAAP). The athletes nominated were selected using the
sport specific selection criteria developed by OCPSA, approved by its Board of
Directors and applied by the OCPSA Selection Committee.

Athletes who have not been nominated and who wish to appeal this decision can do so by filing an appeal with the Quest for Gold Ontario Athlete Assistance Program Appeals Committee. Click here for information.
